City of Wilmington will observe Veterans’ Day on November 11, 2021
This year, the City of Wilmington will observe Veterans’ Day on November 11, 2021. Wilmington City Council deemed it necessary and appropriate to change the observance of Veterans’ Day as a holiday with pay for eligible City employees to the eleventh day of November to align with the date upon which the federal, State of Delaware, and New Castle County governments observe Veterans’ Day. Wilmington previously observed Veteran’s Day during the month of October. The change became effective on September 16, 2021 when Ordinance 21-045 passed by City Council and got approval by the Mayor. Wilmington City government offices will be closed on Thursday, November 11, 2021, for the City’s observance of Veterans Day.
Wilmington City Council thanks all those who embraced their duty to protect and serve our country and appreciate the sacrifices they made.
The end of Daylight Saving Time for 2021 arrives Sunday, November 7th
Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 7, 2021, when the clock will “fall back” one hour and in theory we get one extra hour of sleep. The change will cause our days to get darker earlier. Daylight saving time begins again on March 13, 2022, when clocks “spring forward.”
