City Councilwoman Zanthia Oliver Distributes New Air Conditioning Units to Seniors
As part of her partnership with First State Community Action Agency, 3rd District Councilwoman Oliver will distribute the air conditioning units on Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. starting at Herring Manor.
Wilmington, DE – Today, 3rd District Councilwoman Zanthia Oliver, in partnership with First State Community Action Agency, announced the distribution of new air conditioning units to senior residents in her district.
Councilwoman Oliver has made an investment to ensure the safety and comfort of seniors in her district by hosting two “FREE Air Conditioners For Seniors 60+” events. As part of the two events held on July 12 and July 20, representatives from First State Community Action Agency’s HELP Program met with seniors from her district to apply for free air conditioners.

Those who applied and qualified are now receiving their free air conditioning unit. The first distribution of free air conditioning units will take place on Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 12:30 pm to 1 pm at Herring Manor, 2412 North Market Street, Wilmington, DE. The air conditioning units will be installed by TAG Construction.
“Extreme heat is a silent killer,” said 3rd District Councilwoman Zanthia Oliver. “As I work with First State Community Action Agency’s HELP Program in my district, my goal is to make it healthier and more resilient. Our senior residents must be protected from the effects of climate change. Extreme heat puts them at a higher risk of injury and illness. The new air conditioners will help provide relief from the heat while also reducing energy costs.”
