Wilmington City Council Promotes Literacy and Donates Books as Guest Readers for Wilmington Head Start

WHO: Wilmington City Council President Dr. Hanifa Shabazz, Councilman Nnamdi Chukwuocha (1^st District), Councilwoman Zanthia Oliver (3^rd District), Councilwoman Michelle Harlee (4^th District), Councilman Va’Shun (Turner 5^th District), Councilwoman Yolanda McCoy (6^th District), member of Council staff, Gina Adams, Executive Director Wilmington Head Start, Kim Winer, Center Manager, Stephanie Burks, Center Manager, Carol Thomas, Center Manager,  Karen Pierce, Center Manager and other Head Start staff and parents.

WHAT: Wilmington City Council has partnered with Wilmington Head Start to promote literacy and the benefits of fostering an early love of reading.  Members of Council and staff will serve as guest readers; reading to nearly 500 students enrolled in one of Wilmington Head Start’s three sites across the city.  Books read by members of Council will be donated to Wilmington Head Start.
