Committee of the Whole Meeting scheduled for Monday August 26, 2019 4:30 PM

WILMINGTON – Last week, Wilmington City Council announced the names of the qualified candidates for the City’s 7th Councilmanic District vacancy for the seat vacated by Councilman Robert Williams in July. Today, City Council President Hanifa Shabazz announced that the Committee of the Whole Meeting will be held Monday August 26th at 4:30 PM in Council Chambers.

Those that have been certified as qualified candidates to be appointed to this seat are as follows:

Monica P. Alvarez: Ms. Alvarez is a native of Wilmington and a resident of Wilmington’s 7th District. She is a leader in social service, affordable housing, economic development and community revitalization and currently serves on the boards of Wilmington Placemakers and Y Innovations and was a founding board member for Faithful Friends.

Debbie A. Bullock, EdD: Dr. Bullock has over 30 years of professional experience in corporate, academic and healthcare settings. She is an active leader with several nonprofit and professional organizations such as the Junior League of Wilmington, Delaware Toastmasters Club, and Canaan Baptist Church Higher Ground Education and Scholarship Ministry.

Christofer C. Johnson, Esquire: Mr. Johnson is a local attorney and resident of Union Park Gardens. He has served as a leader in the Delaware Bar Association, the Delaware Center for Justice, Union Park Gardens Neighborhood Association and on the 7th District Neighborhood Planning Council.

The Committee of the Whole of Wilmington City Council, chaired by the President shall be charged with recommending a candidate to fill the council vacancy in accordance with the requirements outlined in the City Charter section 2-34. This meeting has been scheduled for August 26, 2019 4:30 PM.
