Nathan Field was born at Wilmington General Hospital. He graduated from St. Ann’s Parish School and St. Elizabeth High School. As a teenager, he spent his free time playing basketball at Stapler Park and earned spending money working as a “runner” for a downtown law firm and cleaning rugs on Union Street.

After studying at the University of Delaware and Georgetown University with a strong focus on Arabic language studies, Nathan had a ten-year career in international business centered in the Middle East. His accomplishments included serving on the management team of a $1 billion UN-sponsored environmental remediation project in Saudi Arabia and creating, then selling, a successful Arabic translation company. While living in Egypt, he volunteered as an English teacher at a school for refugees.

In 2017, Nathan returned home to Wilmington to work for a family-owned infrastructure construction business on the city’s East Side. His “day job” responsibilities include workforce development and safety management.

Since 2021, Nathan has had the privilege of serving the residents of Wilmington as the 8th District City Council representative. He serves on the Finance, Transportation, and Community Development committees.

Nathan is actively involved in several local organizations. In 2018, he co-founded the Wilmington History Society to promote interest in the city’s fascinating history. He volunteers to help run the Memorial Day Parade, serves on the board of the Delaware Center for Horticulture, and mentors at the local prison, focusing on teaching career skills to soon-to-be-released prisoners.
