This Resolution accepts the resignation of Council Member Loretta Walsh and formally certifies that a vacancy exists in an At-Large Council position, which shall be filled by appointment of a duly qualified successor in accordance with City Charter Section 2-101 and City Code Section 2-34.

This Resolution establishes a taskforce of City Council to be known as the Fines & Fees Taskforce in order to review fees, fines, and administrative sanctions administered by the City, make findings, and, if the taskforce determines that changes are necessary, submit recommendations to City Council.

This Resolution calls upon the federal government to leverage its authority to urgently address the student loan crisis by enacting a plan to cancel federal student loan debt and begin the transition to education as a public good.

This Resolution recommends that the Mayor’s Office require the Wilmington Fire Department undertake the accreditation process, as laid out by the Center for Public Safety Excellence’s Commission on Fire Accreditation International.
Synopsis: This Resolution is being presented by the Administration for Council’s review and approval. This Resolution authorizes the Department of Parks and Recreation’s grant application to the State of Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control for funds allocated pursuant to the 2022 Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Trails Grant Program in the minimum amount of $50,000.00 and maximum amount of $100,000.00. The funds will be used for improvements to Judy Johnson Park. A local match of one-third (1/3) of the grant amount is required.

This Resolution adopts the report titled “Landscape Analysis Report for the City of Wilmington.” The report, which was conducted by the Community Based Public Safety (CBPS) Collective provides a framework for a coordinated, sustainable, solution-oriented approach to violence by providing “General Recommendations” and “Suggested Action Steps” that give consideration to the City’s unique needs.
