Wilmington City Council Invites the Public to the Inauguration of the 109th Session
An inauguration reception will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 6:30 PM, followed by an organizational meeting and swearing-in ceremony at 8:00 PM at The Chase Center on the Riverfront, located at 815 Justison St., Wilmington, DE 19801.
Wilmington, DE – Wilmington City Council proudly announces the inauguration of the 109th Session and invites the public to join this momentous occasion. This special ceremony will include the swearing-in of newly elected Mayor John C. Carney Jr., second-term elected City Treasurer DaWayne Sims, second-term elected Wilmington City Council President Trippi Congo, and all members of the Wilmington City Council.
An inauguration reception will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 6:30 PM, where the public is encouraged to engage with their elected officials in a welcoming environment at The Chase Center on the Riverfront, located at 815 Justison St., Wilmington, DE 19801. In the spirit of the Wilmington City Council’s dedication to a “Transparent and Well Represented Wilmington,” the reception and ceremonies are intended to foster inclusiveness, understanding, and collaboration within the community. Various stakeholders from across the city will be present, reflecting the city’s vibrant diversity and commitment to inclusiveness. An information table will also be available with educational materials and resources related to the Wilmington City Council.
The organizational meeting and swearing-in ceremony will take place at 8:00 PM.
This historic event marks the beginning of a new era in Wilmington, as community leaders and elected officials unite to serve and uplift our city. Wilmington City Council President Ernest “Trippi” Congo II will highlight his commitment to fostering community engagement and empowering constituents to build direct connections with their council members.
“We want the people of Wilmington to know their voices matter and their leadership is here for them,” said President Congo. “This inauguration is not just a ceremony—it’s a celebration of the partnership between our government and the community. I hope all our residents will take this opportunity to meet their council members face to face.”
