Wilmington City Councilwoman Latisha Bracy Appointed to the National League of Cities Committee and Named State Director for the National Federation of Women Elected Officials

At- Large Councilwoman Latisha Bracy began her term with Wilmington City Council on December 1, 2022, and was re-elected to the Council on November 5, 2024.

WILMINGTON, DE – With a heart for service and a steadfast commitment to building stronger communities, At-Large Councilwoman Latisha Bracy has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2025 Community and Economic Development Federal Advocacy Committee. She was elected to a one-year term, and in this role, she will help shape national policy around housing, economic opportunity, and community development. These are all issues Councilwoman Bracy has long championed for the people of Wilmington.

“I’m honored to serve on this vital committee and ensure that Wilmington’s voice is heard in national conversations that impact our neighborhoods,” said Councilwoman Bracy. “Partnering with our Congressional Delegation and local leaders, I look forward to advocating for equitable investments in affordable housing and sustainable economic growth for all residents.”

At-Large Councilwoman Latisha Bracy joined Senators Chris Coons, Lisa Blunt Rochester, Congresswoman Sarah McBride, and members of the Delaware League of Local Governments (DLLG) for National League of Cities Hill Day.

The appointment was announced by NLC President Steve Patterson, the Mayor of Athens, Ohio. As a member of NLC’s Community and Economic Development Committee, Councilwoman Bracy will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities, towns, and villages before Congress, with the administration, and at home in Wilmington, DE.

“NLC’s federal advocacy committees are vital for uplifting the voices and needs of America’s 19,000 cities, towns, and villages to decision-makers in Washington,” said National League of Cities President Steve Patterson, Mayor of Athens, Ohio. “I am excited to work with Councilwoman Bracy and look forward to supporting her vision and leadership as she serves on the Community and Economic Development Committee this year and helps grow the partnership between local and federal leaders.”

The 2025 NLC Community and Economic Development Committee will be led by Chair Jeffrey L. Boney, Councilmember, Missouri City, Texas; Vice Chair Michael Lombardo, Mayor, Pittston, Pennsylvania; and Vice Chair Cindy Silva, Councilmember, Walnut Creek, CA.

In addition to this prestigious appointment, Councilwoman Bracy has also been named the State Director for the National Federation of Women Elected Officials (NFoWEO). In this new role, she will represent and empower women leaders across Delaware, fostering collaboration and mentorship among elected officials.
